Angeion Corporation Enters Agreement
with
Garmin International
Angeion's New Leaf Profile Now Downloadable to Garmin's
Forerunner® 305 GPS
SAINT PAUL, Minn. (March 29, 2007) — Angeion
Corporation (NASDAQ: ANGN) announced today an agreement with Garmin
International enabling integration of
Angeion’s New Leaf Active Metabolic Training™ with Garmin’s
Forerunner 305 GPS
fitness device.
Now, users can download their unique New Leaf Active Metabolic Training
profile to
their Garmin Forerunner® 305 via the Internet. The Forerunner 305
can then audibly
and visually guide users through their exercise based on personalized
heart rate zones
from their metabolic profile to make every workout count. The New Leaf
download
includes measured calories, metabolic training zones, and up to 12
weeks of workouts.
The Garmin Forerunner 305 is a highly integrated GPS fitness device
that monitors
heart rate and calories burned as well as time, speed, distance while
exercising either
indoors or outdoors.
New Leaf Active Metabolic Training begins with a 10-15 minute personal
metabolic
assessment that analyzes the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide
in the breath
along with heart rate over a range of exercise intensities. The assessment
results in
actual measured calories, fuel efficiency (fat utilization), anaerobic
threshold, and peak
oxygen consumption. This snapshot of metabolism serves as the basis
for designing
successful exercise programs for weight control, fitness, or athletic
performance goals.
New Leaf assessments are available from a variety of health, fitness,
and performance
centers throughout North America and in select international markets.

“This agreement between Angeion and Garmin is a natural fit,” commented
Rod Young,
President and CEO of Angeion Corporation. “Garmin is widely recognized
for making GPS technology available for everyday use by active people
around the world. Adding
New Leaf metabolic training technology to the Forerunner creates a unique,
personalized tool for everyone that exercises.”
“We are pleased to offer the New Leaf Active Metabolic capability
to Forerunner 305
owners,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin’s vice president of worldwide
sales. “Combining the
Forerunner with New Leaf Active Metabolic Training helps people achieve
their fitness
goals faster as they exercise smarter, not harder.”
Garmin and Angeion New Leaf will be demonstrating the benefits of training
with the
Forerunner 305 and New Leaf at the 26th Annual International Health,
Racquet and
Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) convention, March 28-31, 2007, in San
Francisco,
California (booth 233).
